Incredible Art

A fifth grade student presented me with her art-work and I was blown away!  I love all the individual pieces in this composition.  Beautiful work!

Fifth Grade: Oil Pastel Parrots and Toucans

Fifth grade drew these gorgeous parrots and toucans!  We learned a little bit about each bird and that they can be found in the RainForest.   Students used oil pastels, chalk, and paper in their compositions to create the bird of their choosing.

Fourth Grade: Romero Britto Art

Can we talk about how amazing these are?  I love sharing the art-work of brazilian artist, Romero Britto with the students because his work is so colorful and fun.  There are so many elements in his art and I love the designs that fourth grade came up with!
We looked at one of Britto's paintings and then the students picked an animal of their choosing (from the picture we looked at) and finally, used color, line, and pattern to fill up their composition.  Well done, artists!

Art Around the World: Cave Art and Brazilian Baianas

First Grade: Henry Rousseau Tigers

We looked at the painting, "Surprised! or A Tiger in a Tropical Storm," by Henry Rousseau.  The students speculated what was happening in the painting and what the tiger was doing.  We used sharpie, oil pastels, and paint to create these ferocious (and adorable) tigers.  Great job, first grade!
